Sunset Aperitif Cruise on the Gulf of Poets: Portovenere by Boat
Board the Goletta Kimera at 6:00 p.m. and return at 9:00 p.m. — a 3-hour private sunset cruise across the Gulf of Poets, timed to capture the most extraordinary light of the day over one of Italy's most celebrated coastlines.
Departing from La Spezia, the Goletta sails west into the gulf towards Portovenere, the first stop on the tour. Recognisable by its tall, colourful terraced houses stacked along the medieval waterfront and by the Church of San Pietro — perched above the sea on the tip of the promontory — Portovenere is among the most photogenic villages in all of Liguria and one of the defining images of the UNESCO World Heritage coastline that stretches from here to the Cinque Terre.
Palmaria Island, Byron's Grotto and the Return Along the Shore
The second stop is Palmaria Island, the largest of the three UNESCO-listed islands — together with Tino and Tinetto — that guard the entrance to the gulf. Palmaria is a natural paradise: its coastline is punctuated by sea caves, including the celebrated Grotta di Lord Byron, named after the Romantic poet who famously swam these waters. The island also features a series of former military fortifications, now converted into tourist facilities, and trails beloved by hikers.
During the cruise, one dedicated swimming stop is included in a sheltered bay, where a rich aperitif is prepared and served on board as the sun descends towards the horizon. On the return towards La Spezia, the boat passes the quiet seaside villages of Le Grazie, Fezzano and Cadimare, small communities that line the inner shore of the gulf away from the tourist crowds.
Itineraries are subject to weather and sea conditions. The skipper may modify the route at any time to ensure the safety of all guests.
Max capacity: 23 guests — private charter only.
